碎南瓜樂團（英文：The Smashing Pumpkins）是一支來自於美國芝加哥的另類搖滾樂團，成軍於1988年，成員為比利·寇根（Billy Corgan，主唱、吉他手、鋼琴）、井葉吉伸（吉他手、主唱）、達西·沃茲奇（D'arcy Wretzky，貝斯手、主唱）、吉米·錢柏林（Jimmy Chamberlin，鼓手、打擊樂器）。樂團作品的風格涵蓋了油漬搖滾、重金屬、夢幻流行樂、哥特搖滾、古典等。雖然不是一支純粹的試驗性樂團，但是碎南瓜敢於不斷創新，挑戰不同音樂形式的作風使得它從同時代的樂團中脫穎而出。截至2000年樂團解散為止，碎南瓜在全球的唱片銷量大約在3千萬張，是一支名副其實的成功樂團。

自組團以來，Smashing Pumpkins的音樂一直就帶領迷失的靈魂們進入另一個世紀、尋求重獲新生命的契機，並狂亂地以電氣瀰漫的樂聲向上帝質疑救贖的意義，同時又絕望地躲在角落裏自怨自艾、自憐自唱。

Smashing Pumpkins在1989年於芝加哥組成四人搖滾樂團，樂團創作靈魂的主唱Billy Corgan說學彈寫樣樣精通，兼之以一副尖啞瘦削、彷彿被佇立於月夜樹梢的烏鴉附身般的邪異唱腔，形成樂團最深刻的風格印記；日裔美籍的吉他手James Iha則負責與Billy Corgan併肩構築一道道詭譎的迷離音牆；而閃耀著一頭亮眼白髮的女生D'Arcy卻總是出神地撥弄著貝斯，有時興起也會哼上兩句；加上Jimmy Chamberlin的扁平鼓聲，為全團打下躁烈中不失豐厚的節奏基底。

他們分別在1991年、1993年及1995年推出的專輯Gish、Siamese Dream、Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness，都是一張比一張成熟精進的頂尖之作，將樂團可哀傷可迷幻可凶暴、睥睨群雄的多重搖滾霸氣拱至顛峰。然而在1998年時，鼓手Jimmy Chamberlin因藥物問題離團。在黃金組合破碎的狀態下，錄製了工業電子與蒼白憂悒並容的Adore專輯。千禧年前Adore專輯宣傳行程告一段落的那時候，鼓手Jimmy Camberlin重新歸隊，全新大碟MACHINA/The Machines Of God旋即發行。這張完整展現『另類搖滾的救世主』大團風範的作品，重釋了他們先前的搖滾力道，也召告了他們全新的音樂空間。Billy Corgan說：「當我們搖滾的時期結束了，它就是結束了，因為我們覺得已經無路可出，看來我們踢到了一面牆。Adore專輯攀過了那面牆，卻掉入了流行的泥沼。Jimmy歸隊後又把我們帶回了搖滾的可能發展空間裡，儘管這不是我們預計要走的方向，也沒打算採取搖滾走向，但我們看到了火花在閃耀。」

在新作MACHINA/The Machines Of God即將完成之時，女貝斯手D'Arcy卻選擇與戰友道別。黃金組合走入歷史，嶄新局面翩然降臨，由前Hole貝斯女Melissa Aur Der Maur入替。Billy Corgan表示會Melissa一個音都沒彈就給了她這份工作的理由，是在於她以情感來詮釋的能力，還有她對音樂整體感的回應。除了新力軍的加入之外，老團員Jimmy的重新歸隊，也為專輯帶來全新的契機。專輯再次延請曾為他們製作全球超白金專輯Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness的知名製作人Flood與Billy Corgan共同製作，深蘊豐沛的不再單限於Adore中電子合成器編輯的鼓擊，在神似New Order唯美新浪潮中，Billy Corgan依然「稚氣且邪氣」的迷人嗓音與嗡鳴的「非凡式」吉他緩飆魅音，爆裂出世紀末了天人之間的情愫。

Smashing Pumpkins成軍近10年來，他們對於音樂演繹的能力讓每一首歌聽起來更邪惡，或更神聖，或更具各種表情。每一張專輯都是四個人深深地向下潛的結果，有些是安安靜靜的音樂、有些則是更詩意且不充滿暴力鬱悶的天賴，藉著這些作品所創造出的典範來詮釋更廣、更遠的意境。雖然有人表示Adore專輯已經臨近Smashing Pumpkins一個完成的階段，主唱Billy Corgan也發佈將於2000年底解散樂團的消息，但Smashing Pumpkins始終都秉持著他們以往『重搖滾樂團』的形象，帶領歌迷超越了『重』的境界，讓歌迷在聽到如機關槍般噠噠響聲的音樂同時，也在歌曲中注入了情感的能量。
