- 73年出生於美國北加州、本名Josh Davis的DJ Shadow，成長於搖滾樂興盛的八○年代﹔當其他同齡青少年熱衷於學習吉他、貝斯、鼓等主流樂器時，醉心於嘻哈音樂的他獨樹一幟的選擇鑽研唱盤與混音機的操作技巧。大學時期，他開始在學校電台發表創作並自製發行mix tapes，逐漸在地下樂界打響名號。’96年，DJ Shadow推出大秀取樣拼貼創意的首張專輯《Entroducing》，引起各方熱烈迴響，Muzik雜誌大力推崇為「有史以來最棒的舞曲專輯」、Mojo雜誌亦評選為史上最佳專輯之一。2002年，DJ Shadow祭出《The Private Press》專輯，空降英國舞曲榜冠軍並締造多首排行單曲銷售佳績，與入列2002年滾石雜誌年度50大最佳專輯的專業樂評肯定，再度證明他高超的創作、製作和混音功力。
