George Michael是Wham雙人樂團的一員

他們在1981年組團, 當時的New Wave音樂正蓄勢待發要成為流行歌壇的王道.他們最早有有首歌Wham Rap, 靠這支單曲和SONY簽約. 並於1983年發行首張專輯Fantastic!, 除了收錄Wham Rap, 還有一首單曲Young Guns也很紅。

80年代中期, 科技掀起波濤, 電腦熱潮, 資訊科技濫觴; CD準備代替黑膠唱片成為新寵; CNN、MTV等頻道開台, 有線電視業變成當紅炸子雞; 經濟有著一番榮景,很多台灣產業也在那時起步; 雅痞次文化興起; New Wave藝人打扮華麗, 影響到青少年穿著, 衣服都帶有墊肩增加帥氣(現在看起來俗, 也許過兩年又流行了)...這應算當時的'若干'時代背景.就中, MTV台帶動熱門音樂視覺化, 各唱片公司紛紛推出藝人的音樂錄影帶, 而且越拍越好, 最經典的當屬Michael Jackson的Thriller。

Wham自然不能免俗出了幾支Music Video, 但內容普普不值一書, 倒是在音樂上有不同凡響的表現. 1984年專輯Make It Big推出後掀起樂壇狂潮, 金曲一支接一支,分別為Wake Me up Before You Go-Go、Careless Whisper、Everything She Wants和Freedom, Careless Whisper也是年終單曲冠軍。

Last Chritmas是走紅於1985年, 尤其接近耶誕節時更是舞會必播曲,
也被收錄在Wham第三張大碟Music from the Edge of Heaven裡。
Wham不斷推出單曲而且支支動聽, 不過創作皆來自於George Michael之手, 目光焦點自然落在他一人身上, 相對另一團員Angrew Ridgeley就變得櫻櫻美代子。

【補充】：
※1986年Wham!推出了他們的最後一張專輯Music From The Edge Of Heaven，George擔綱了專輯中所有歌曲的製作及創作大任，出現在專輯裡的大部份的樂器，也都由他一手包辦。不過，George和Andrew卻在樂團尚處於巔峰的彼時宣佈解散。兩人在1986年6月時於英國倫敦的溫布萊體育館舉行告別演唱會，Wham!也正式走入歷史。
※ 熟悉流行音樂的人都知道，其實Wham雖然是由Geroge Michael及Andrew Ridgeley所組成，但是其實Andrew Ridgeley是不懂得任何樂器的，而Wham的所有歌都是由George Michael主唱、作曲、編曲及音樂演奏一手包辦(除了Careless Whisper有份作了一半)，既然是如此，所以George Michael數年後順理成章作個人發展，當然也是非常成功。
