Piston Brown

It's said that no one never held a hammer.
Or laid a long hard stretch of steel track down.
It's said that no one drives
an iron with the fire
Of one-eyed Piston Brown.

It's said that Piston Brown was raised by Druids.
In the center of forest warm and green.
With nature they were one,
He was a priest and priestess' son
And taught the way of magic in the trees.

Now, of course, there is a girl,
Her name is Sarah.
Two fated lovers you have never seen.
Enchantments all they knew,
In Eden where they grew,
And at last, one day
Young Sarah did conceive.

The tribe was thrilled with Sarah's dear conception.
A ceremony great was now declared.
It proclaimed all sorts of signs,
And planets which aligned
And fulfilled the priesthood's
Long and careful plan.

It's said that no one never held a hammer,
Or laid a long hard stretch of track down
It's said that no one drives
an iron with the fire
Of one-eyed Piston Brown.

You see, if two holy siblings have an offspring
And upon a certain day it's sacrificed.
A great power would befall
The priesthood one and all
And thus, this union carefully was devised.

Brown and Sarah were in fact two twins, but
Separated young and never told
Maneuvered well enough
Into falling deep in love
To bear the sacrifice that was fortold.

Well, the truth will come out one way or another.
At a ceremony all became unveiled.
And though they screamed in vain,

Sarah and baby were slain
And Brown fled in his grief and cries and wails

(The bongos of despair)

He ran and ran until he reached the city
The grime and steel there filled his very bones
The years were cruel and sharp,
And Brown grew strong and hard,
And became a railway man down to his bone

He championed a railway line that ran through
The very forest where his people lived
With firearms guns and knives
he would turn their eyes on fire
To mow down every living thing within.

His tribe with all their fancy, mighty magic
Could not defend the fierce attack
No match for guns and steel
Piston Brown's men all did wield,
All life was swept, replaced by railway track

It's said no forest and no field will move him
He rips them all asunder in his time
It's said he won't stop work
till every blade of grass on earth
Is replaced by steel track of the railway line.

It's said that no one never held a hammer
Or laid a long hard stretch of steel track down
It's said that no one drives
an iron with the fire
