- 皮克斯連續第9部在全美首映週勇奪票房冠軍的動畫片「瓦力」，這是由以「海底總動員」榮獲奧斯卡最佳動畫片大獎的導演Andrew Stanton/安德魯史坦頓二度掌舵的作品，劇情描述地球在幾百年後，變成一個污染嚴重的垃圾山，人類全都移居外星球，而派機器人瓦力到地球打掃環境，每天做著例行的清理工作，晚上則窩在鐵皮貨櫃中，生活最大樂趣就是從垃圾堆中挖寶，有天人類派來猶如機器人名模的伊芙到地球查看瓦力的工作情況，生性害羞內向的宅男瓦力對這個外形看似時尚iPod的伊芙一見傾心，迫不及待想與她分享自己的收藏，一段機器人之間的愛戀情結就此展開，這段戀情也為好萊塢影壇帶來最刺激且最富想像力的奇趣冒險。
[音樂開始]
擔任電影音樂創作的Thomas Newman/湯瑪斯紐曼，1984年起投身影音創作領域，歷經十年奮鬥終於在1995年同時以「刺激1995」、「新小婦人」獲得奧斯卡最佳原創電影音樂兩項提名而闖出名號，接著又陸續以「美國心玫瑰情」、「非法正義」、「海底總動員」、「柏林迷宮」…等片獲得八次奧斯卡提名，2002年以影集「六呎風雲」的片頭音樂贏得艾美獎最佳主題音樂，其他代表作包括HBO迷你影集「美國天使」及「鍋蓋頭」、「最後一擊」、「永不妥協」、「第六感生死緣」…等電影。
【瓦力】是湯瑪斯紐曼首度為科幻題材創作的電影音樂，二度與他合作的導演史坦頓表示：「他具有一種非常獨特的風格，他常在與管弦樂團完成了音樂錄製之後，還運用許多的加錄效果(overdue：在已錄音的磁帶再錄上其他樂器聲或人聲)與混音製作，這樣他可以隨時放進多采多姿的新奇音樂，他的音樂精準詮釋了電影性格，並確切掌握角色與影像情境所需的調性，我想不出還有比這個創作方式更好的了!」湯瑪斯以輕巧的打擊樂，剔透流動的鍵盤/琴音與氣象萬千的管弦樂，加上出奇不意的音樂曲式豐富了瓦力跨越星空的奇妙冒險。【瓦力】原聲帶收錄彼德蓋布瑞爾為電影譜寫並演唱的主題曲'Down To Earth'，以及「歌劇魅影」東尼獎最佳男主角麥可克勞佛挑戰1969年電影「我愛紅娘」中的兩首歌曲'It Only Takes A Moment'、'Put On Your Sunday Clothes'，此外，路易斯阿姆斯壯演唱的法國香頌名曲'La Vie En Rose'為電影憑添幾許浪漫色彩。
